Tragic Shooting Incident in Pietermaritzburg Leaves 10 Family Members Dead

A devastating shooting incident in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, has resulted in the deaths of 10 family members. The victims, consisting of seven women and three men, were believed to be members of the same family. The incident occurred on Thursday evening at a homestead in Plessislaer, Pietermaritzburg.

According to Brigadier Jay Naicker, a provincial spokesperson, unknown gunmen stormed the homestead and ambushed the family, fatally wounding all 10 individuals. The motive behind the attack is not yet known. Naicker expressed concern over the widespread issue of indiscriminate killings in various communities in KZN and called for urgent action to address the problem.

The police have not yet made any arrests in connection with the shooting. Police Minister Bheki Cele is expected to visit the crime scene on Friday morning.

Spate of Shootings in KwaZulu-Natal Leaves 9 Dead

In addition to the tragic shooting incident in Pietermaritzburg, a number of other shootings occurred in and around KwaZulu-Natal on Thursday, resulting in the deaths of at least nine people. Two men were killed in a taxi-related shooting, while four men were gunned down in a suspected drug-related hit. Additionally, a teenager walking home from school was shot dead in the middle of the road.
