In Zimbabwe, a school girl was killed by a black mamba during class.
A 17-year-old girl who was studying at Rushinga High School in Zimbabwe has died after being bitten by a black mamba snake in her classroom, according to local media.
The incident happened at around 10.30 a.m. in the school compound, located in the Rushinga district of the Mashonaland Central province of Zimbabwe. Melody Chiputura, who was a girl in the A level, was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she died.
The snake was immediately killed by other learners and a teacher who rushed to the scene.
The school management said, “This was the first case the government has recorded in many years while passing condolences to the bereaved family.”
A mamba snake is a highly venomous snake indigenous to sub-Saharan Africa. It is the deadliest snake species on the continent.
