Presidency denies the Gauteng premier’s request for a state funeral for rapper AKA

The Gauteng Premier’s request for a state funeral for Kiernan “AKA” Forbes has been denied by the Presidency. This comes after Forbes and his friend Tebello Motsoane were tragically killed in Durban last week. Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi asked for permission to hold a state funeral for the rapper, but the Presidency said no.

Request for State Funeral Denied

According to Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi, his office’s request for a state funeral for rapper AKA has been denied by the Presidency. The premier announced that the province would be flying the South African flag at half-mast and covering the coffin of the late rapper in it as a mark of respect for him. However, the Presidency did not grant permission for the state funeral.

Request Not for Financial Contribution

Premier Lesufi has denied that the request for a state funeral for AKA was for financial gain. Instead, the request was made to honor the late rapper and his contributions to South African music. Lesufi had hoped that the state funeral would allow the people of Gauteng to pay their respects and honor the memory of AKA.

A Tragic Loss

The death of AKA has shocked the South African music industry and people all over the world. The rapper was known for his contributions to the genre of hip-hop and had a loyal following of fans.
