Four Lesotho nationals were arrested on Wednesday, April 26, 2023, for hijacking a courier truck in Rockville, Soweto. The suspects were found in possession of an unlicensed firearm, various passports, and stolen goods, including laptops, medication, and clothes.
Driver hijacked in Ekurhuleni
The incident happened at around 10:00 AM on Wednesday morning. The victim, a courier driver, was driving his truck in Ekurhuleni when he was approached by four men. The men pointed a gun at the victim and demanded his keys. The victim complied and the men drove off in his truck.
Suspects offload goods at isolated location
The men drove the truck to an isolated place, where they offloaded some of the goods onto their vehicle. They then abandoned the truck and fled the scene.
Police track suspects to Rockville
The police were alerted to the hijacking and launched a manhunt. They were able to track the suspects to a house in Rockville, Soweto. Upon searching the house, the police found the stolen goods, as well as an unlicensed firearm and various passports.
The suspects were arrested and charged with car hijacking, kidnapping, possession of suspected stolen goods, possession of an unlicensed firearm, and possession of ammunition. They are due to appear in court soon.
