According to Sabata Mokgwabone, the police spokesperson, the victims were primarily Xhosa-speaking individuals engaged in socializing when a group of Sesotho-speaking suspects indiscriminately opened fire on them. Mokgwabone provided further details, stating, “Eight people tragically lost their lives on the spot, and the ninth victim was certified dead upon arrival at the hospital. Additionally, eight individuals sustained injuries during the attack.
As of now, the motive behind this senseless act of violence remains elusive, and law enforcement officials have yet to make any arrests. Mokgwabone emphasized that a thorough investigation is underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and identify the perpetrators. The police are urging anyone with information to come forward and assist in the ongoing inquiry.
