Pelé moved to end-of-life care

Pele, the Brazilian football star who scored five goals in his country’s 1966 World Cup triumph, has been moved into “end-of-life care” and is no longer responding to treatment for colon cancer.

A statement from Pele’s family said that the former footballer  “had an adequate response to an antibiotic treatment and was in a stable condition “with a general improvement in health status”.

Pelé, who was born in Minas Gerais in the municipality of Três Corações, is considered one of the greatest football players of all time and holds a number of records including the most goals scored in a career.
