Telkom tariffs change
Telkom tariffs change in South Africa
Telkom is raising prices for people who use its mobile and internet services.
Mobile and inter-tariffs will change on August 1st, according to Telkom. All of the telecom provider’s fixed-line and broadband customers, as well as some mobile services, will be affected by the price hikes.
Telkom says this is the first time in two years that it has had tariffs changed, which shows that it knows when to act. The price increase was called “essential,” and it looks like now is the best time to end the COVID price freeze.
“Given the pressures of the lockdown restrictions and slow economic recovery and growth, Telkom, like many other South African companies and businesses, has been impacted by these unpredictable and unforeseen circumstances,” Telkom said.
Who will be affected by the Telkom tariff change?
Users of ADSL 1Mbit/s and ADSL 2Mbit/s will have to pay more for ADSL 5Mbit/s. What’s up? The previous two tiers have been taken out of use. At least those users will also get the speed they need.
Tariffs will go up for all of its fixed-voice, fiber-to-the-home, legacy DSL, and PureConnect contracts. Those who already have cell phone contracts with FreeMe will be saved, more or less. Telkom’s out-of-bundle rates have caused prices to go up everywhere.
“There will, however, be an increase in out-of-bundle rates for mobile voice and data services, which will result in an increase in most tariffs.” “Voice rates for out-of-bundle consumption will increase from R0.70 to R0.75/minute and data rates will increase from R0.30 to R0.32/MB.”
