Tragedy Strikes: Man Fatally Shot at East Rand Engen Garage, Suspect and Drug Dealer Apprehended
East Rand, Ekurhuleni — In a shocking turn of events, a man was shot dead at an Engen garage in the East Rand on Monday morning. Police say that the victim and the suspect knew each other and that they were talking about the suspect’s new gun.
Reports say that the incident happened when the victim took the magazine out of the gun and put it on the seat. The suspect, who is thought to be a drug user, then leaned over the car, took the magazine, put it in the gun, and shot the victim.
After shooting the victim, the suspect allegedly searched for his car keys and fled with both the car and the firearm.
Later, the police found out that the suspect had sold the gun at a hostel in Tokoza for R800.
Community patrollers are said to have caught the suspect, who was high on drugs, and turned him and the drug dealer, who helped sell the gun, over to the police. The buyer of the firearm has yet to be found.
The suspect at first denied that he was the person who was shooting in the video, but his mother eventually recognized him. The police are investigating the matter and have taken the suspect and the drug dealer into custody.
